As is necessary every autumn, hubby and I went on a mushroom hunt. We decided to head east out of the fog and were met with a glorious sunny day.
We found some unusual mushrooms (Earth Star above). Can you spot the creature hanging out with the mushroom?
I paused often to snap pics of the fall color.
And some were more in focus than others, but it is so difficult to capture fall color in the woods. I decided that the third weekend in October is my favorite of the entire year (and not just because it is my birthday weekend). Invariably we're met with crisp, sunny weather. It is cool enough to wear a knit hat but not too cold that it isn't pleasant to be outside. Apples are in season (they also make a good hiking snack). Pumpkins can be found in many recipes (like lattes). The leaves are changing. It is just plain beautiful!
